Not bad for the price!,
I was looking for a Road Bike for my son. Looking around in local bike store, their price seems too high even for a no name bike. Came across this bike and it seems to fit my son’s needs. Receive bike in good condition … nice wheel & spokes. Have to give credit to Schwinn for double boxing the bike. Assembly was easy and took me about 1/2 hr to get it done. All parts in good working condition. Bike is light weight … less than 27 lbs. It is not Carbon as listed in the Bike title. Kind of misleading on the description. It overall Aluminum frame but light enough. Whether it is wrapped in Carbon I don’t really know. Also, the Top Bar is not slanted. It is flat horizontally (on the website, it looks slanted a little). The bike rides smooth. Gear is easy to change from the STI shifter on the brake. Some important size measurement to know that I do not find it on the website :
Center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube : 56cm
Stand-over height : 77 1/2 cm
Quick Release : Front wheel & Bike Seat (rear wheel is bolted)
Removable Stickers : No … it is lacquer
Weight : 25-27 lbs (bike only)
I plan to add a Cross over lever brake, replace the seat and that would make the ride more comfortable for easy braking when riding on the flat bar. Overall, my son likes this bike and good value for your money especially for beginners road bikers. Just remember, it is not exactly Carbon. Hope this review helps for potential buyers as I could not find a single review for this bike and I took a chance on this bike.
Update : Now, both the inner get busted not due to any ext. sharp objects. It’s very inferior tube. The entire valve on the tube get snap off & need to be replace after 1 month. The inner tube is low quality. Overall, the bike still rides very well. So, just be aware to bring spare tube for long distance ride.

I must say, I have never bought a Schwinn bike before but I was quite pleased with the Varsity bike. Let me start out buy saying that this is a 300.00 bike, not a 500 or 600 bike. The components you receive on the bike from the Shimano line are the shifters and the rear derailer. You get a aftermarket crankset from Samox components and brakes from promax that stop the bike fairly well. After you do a fair bit of research you will find that you can buy your brakes and crank set for a whopping 60.00 tops.In order to get a bike like this in the 300 range you have cut somewhere, and that somewhere is in the components. The bike is not made here but what things are today. It is very well constructed and rides nice.You could upgrade to a better seat as the factory one is okay but i can find more comfortable ones out there. Those of you that are not familiar with the integrated road shifters that are built into the brakes is something you have to get use to. I did not have trouble figuring out how to shift, just different than the old style levers and dial shifters i had on my mountain bike. The bike comes in 2 boxes for extra padding which was nice. No damage at all on the bike. The bike as stated is aluminum frame wrapped in carbon. This is not a carbon frame. Not at that price. The bike does have to be assembled more than i thought it would. You have to install the handle bars, the front brake line, adjust both front and rear brake pads,Inflate the tires, install the pedals,install seat post, install front tire, and then your ready to go.You don’t need to be a expert to assemble it but it does help if you are mechanically inclined a bit. Instructions are well written and it even comes with an area to mount your water bottle on to. Overall, nice bike. I am planning on doing some light riding with it so I will return with a better review. Overall, if you want a nice looking bike with average components, well made, nice to look at, then this is your bike. If you are looking at trying to save some money and cut corners and want to go on the Tour de France next week, then no, this is not your bike. I would say to improve this bike maybe upgrade the brake components to a better grade for some more stopping power but other than that it is a great bike and hope to have it for many years to come.
Update: Bike rides rides very well and the seat is not that bad at all to sit on. Highly recommend this bike.

This is my first road bike. So far I’ve only taken it for one 25 mile trip, but I’m happy because I’m not passed by everyone on the trail with a road bike anymore. I now have to do more riding and train for the races I want to enter next year.
The biggest concern that I had buying this product was whether it was going to be the right size. I’m 5’5.5 and was afraid the frame would be too large. The box said 28 in and 128L X 18W X 71H. After taking an inseem measurement of myself I discovered that my inseem was barely above 28″ so I opened the box. The bike fits me well, but I do ride with the seat in the lowest position. Note to those who think this is the same as the CF-1000 from Walmart. It is not. This is probably where some of the size confusion has come about.
Assembly was almost do it my self, but I couldn’t get the front brake centered perfectly and could not get the front derailer adjusted perfectly(though now that I’ve ridden it I realize I wasn’t pressing it enough to change the gear.) As a result I took it to a shop for a tune up. The bike is pretty nice, but the only thing I was really disappointed with is that the rear tire does not come with a quick release. At least the front does, so I can still fit the bike in the trunk of my car. The tires have regular valves instead of the thin ones that are typically on road bikes. I’m not sure if there are any significant downsides to that, but I like that I can still inflate the bike with my electric car pump.
